MANILA, Philippines — Online booking for slots in Quezon City government’s COVID-19 vaccination program until April 17 is already “full,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said Wednesday.

However, while the online booking is already full since there is a quota of vaccinees per site, Belmonte assured that there are still vaccines reserved for those with assisted booking or walk-ins.

“‘Yung online booking is full na because may quota yan per site. But we have three modes of getting vaccinated since online is not accessible to those who belong to the grassroots. We have something called assisted booking and we have limited slots for walk ins,” she said in a text message to INQUIRER.net

“I believe we have some vaccines reserved for assisted bookings and walk-ins. As we realize online alone is discriminatory,” Belmonte added.

FEATURED STORIES

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Quezon City government announced that scheduled vaccinations are up to April 17 only due to limited supply of vaccines. They said they would open up more slots for scheduled vaccinations once supply from the national government arrives.

Belmonte said the local government is expected to receive 6,500 doses of CoronaVac, the vaccine from China’s Sinovac Biotech, from the national government.

With this additional supply, while it isn’t “much,” Belmonte said it could open up another day or two of vaccination beyond April 17.

“Siguro baka sa assisted booking mode na lang namin ilaan ito para sa mas mahihirap mapunta [Maybe in the assisted booking mode we can provide these in order for those hard to reach],” she said.

Quezon City is so far only giving vaccine shots to medical frontliners, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities.
