TUGUEGARAO CITY –– Three cases of the more contagious variants of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Isabela province, an official of the Department of Health (DOH) said on Tuesday, April 13.

In a press briefing, Dr. Rio Magpantay, DOH Cagayan Valley director, said two were confirmed to be carriers of the UK strain. The other was infected with the South African variant.

The two COVID-19 variants were named after the country where these were first detected.

Magpantay said these COVID-19 variants were linked to the high infection rate in Isabela.
