Nueva Ecija gun attacks kill 1, wound another
CABANATUAN CITY—An online seller was killed while a rice mill owner was wounded in separate gun attacks in Nueva Ecija province last Sunday (April 11), according to police.
The slain online seller, Joan Santos, 32, was a resident of the village of Bantug Norte.
Police said Santos was driving an improvised tricycle, locally known as kolong-kolong, with her cousin when a gunman shot her with a short firearm at the village of Pangatian here past 6 p.m.
Santos died instantly while the gunman and an accomplice fled, according to police.
Earlier that day, businessman Albert Duran was standing in the compound of his rice mill when he was shot by two men on board a motorcycle.
Duran suffered multiple bullet wounds and was rushed to the Bongabon District Hospital but was transferred to a private hospital where he is still being treated.
