MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila will have shortened curfew hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. as the metropolis shifts to a less stringent modified community quarantine (MECQ) starting Monday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

In a statement on Sunday, MMDA chairman Benhur Abalos said Metro Manila mayors, under the Metro Manila Council (MMC), have agreed to shorten curfew hours starting April 12 until April 30.

Under ECQ, curfew hours in Metro Manila were from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Abalos said authorized persons outside residence (APOR) remains exempted from the curfew provided they show proof of identification or certificate of employment to authorities.

Curfew hours in areas in the “NCR Plus bubble” which were also placed under MECQ along Metro Manila, meanwhile, will “remain as is” as mayors and governors have yet to decide on modified curfew hours, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque earlier said.
