Bicol logs record-high 62 new coronavirus cases

LEGAZPI CITY — The Department of Health (DOH) in Bicol has logged on Black Saturday, April 3, 62 COVID-19 cases, the highest so far recorded in a period of one week (March 28 to April 3) in the region.

DOH tracker indicated that of the 62 new cases, Sorsogon province had the highest number with 30 cases, followed by Camarines Sur (29 cases). Albay and Camarines Norte each had one new case while a transient from Makati was listed as another case in Bicol. The new cases bring the total number of active cases in Bicol to 621.

DOH Bicol also recorded 12 newly reported recoveries during the same period.

The DOH case bulletin, as of April 3, showed that Bicol recorded a total of 5,560 total cases since March last year, with 4,706 recoveries and 233 deaths.

Of the total cases, Camarines Sur had the highest number with 1,476 (26 percent) followed by Sorsogon with 800 cases (14 percent), Masbate with 732 (13 percent), Albay with 654 (11 percent), Catanduanes with 233 (4 percent), and Camarines Norte with 179 (3 percent).

Meanwhile, Naga City logged 943 cases (16 percent) while Legazpi City had 519 cases (9 percent).
