BI scales down operations, downsizes workforce
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Tuesday ordered all its offices in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces on enhanced community quarantine to scale down their operations and downsize their workforce to prevent transmission of the coronavirus in their workplaces.
In an advisory, Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said all immigration offices in the National Capital Region, Laguna, Rizal, Cavite and Bulacan, will operate with a skeleton force and on shortened working hours, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. until April 4, or until the lockdown is lifted.
Immigration personnel assigned at Ninoy Aquino International Airport are not covered.
