Lopez wants workers in F&B, medical products sectors in 4th priority for vaccines
MANILA, Philippines — Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez has proposed placing workers in the food and beverage and medical products sectors to be placed fourth in the COVID-19 vaccination priority list.
These workers could be prioritized after health workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), and persons with comorbidities (A3), Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said on Wednesday during the pre-recorded televised Cabinet meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte.
He proposed putting in the A4 category workers in the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries because if these people were to get infected by the coronavirus it would put compromise the supply of medical products and food.
If the proposal is approved, these workers will join frontline personnel in the A4 priority list, which includes the uniformed personnel and workers in essential sectors, as previously determined by the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group.
As of this writing, more than half a million individuals have already been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Philippines.
