Occidental Mindoro capital reports 11 new coronavirus infections

CITY OF CALAPAN—The town of Mamburao, capital of Occidental Mindoro, reported 11 new COVID-19 cases on Monday (March 22).

The provincial health office (PHO), in a report, said six of the cases involved males and five females.

Among the newly-infected was a one-year-old girl who is showing no symptoms. The eldest is a 59-year-old man who also has no symptoms.

The year-old girl has no history of travel outside the province. She had been exposed to another COVID-19 patient. She had been tested and results came out positive on Sunday (March 21).

Like the other newly-infected persons, the girl is now in quarantine. Contact tracing is ongoing.

The PHO also reported on Monday the recovery of 12 patients, 11 of whom were infected through local transmission, from the town of Sablayan. One case there was said to be “imported” from the town of Calintaan.

Since the pandemic last year, the province has logged a total of 365 cases. At least 56 are still active, 296 are recoveries and 13 led to deaths.
