CITY OF CAUAYAN, Isabela—A returning resident of Basco, the capital town of Batanes, had tested positive for SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, to become the northernmost province’s fifth COVID-19 case since the pandemic began in 2020.

The 26-year-old man, who came from Project 6 in virus hot spot Quezon City, arrived in Batanes last March 20 aboard a Philippine Airlines flight.

According to the Batanes provincial information desk, the man was tested for coronavirus two days before his flight.
