MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) will be limiting the number of visitors to its headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City amid a surge in COVID-19 cases, PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said Thursday.

Eleazar added that all offices and units inside Camp Crame will also be monitoring their respective personnel for strict observance of health protocols.

“No lockdown as a whole but Camp Crame now is restricted to visitors and all offices/units inside are closely monitoring their respective [personnel] for the strict observance of health protocols,” Eleazar said in a text message to reporters.

“We are not barring, we are limiting the number of visitors to official visits and it is an existing policy that was just reiterated,” the PNP officer-in-charge later told INQUIRER.net in a text message.

The policy in limiting the number of visitors is in effect “until further notice,” Eleazar said.

Before this, non-uniformed personnel of the PNP were already advised to work from home, and all heads of offices were directed to assess how to implement the new work arrangement “without compromising their respective offices’ administrative works and outputs.”

As of March 17, the total number of cases at the PNP is 12,631, of which 1,105 are active cases.
