Tropical depression east of Mindanao enters PAR; first storm of 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The tropical depression spotted east of Mindanao entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday, making it the first storm to enter the country in 2021.

The storm was named “Auring,” which entered PAR at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

“At 8:00 AM today, the Tropical Depression east of Mindanao entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility and was named #AuringPH. This is the first tropical cyclone inside PAR this 2021,” Pagasa said in a Facebook post.

The weather bureau will issue a severe weather bulletin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
