Metro Manila, some parts of Luzon to have cloudy skies, light rain Friday

MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies and isolated rain showers may be expected Friday in parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, as the northeast monsoon or amihan affects these regions, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Specifically, the state weather bureau said the northeast monsoon will influence this day’s atmospheric conditions in Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, and Calabarzon.

The rest of Southern Luzon, meanwhile, will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening, according to Pagasa.

On the other hand, Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain showers on Friday, it added.

The state weather bureau further said it is monitoring a new shallow low-pressure area east of Mindanao, but this weather disturbance is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility and has no effect yet on any part of the country.
