Motorcyclist dead, 2 riders hurt in Quezon road mishap

LUCENA CITY –– A motorcyclist died and two other riders injured in a collision between two motorcycles in Real town in Quezon province on Sunday, Feb. 7.

A Quezon police report said Darrel Castillo, with Mary Joy Rañosa as back-rider, was traversing the Mauban–Real road when they collided with another motorcycle driven by Rogelio Morales, which came from the opposite direction in Barangay Malapad around 1:30 p.m.

Castillo, Rañosa, and John Michael Frades, Morales’ back-rider, suffered grave injuries from the head-on collision and were taken to the nearest hospital, but Castillo died on the way.

The report said Morales, who had no driver’s license, overshot a sharp curve of the road, causing the collision.

Morales was detained at the police jail.
