Batangas logs 55 new Covid-19 cases

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – At least 55 more new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases were recorded in Batangas province on Feb. 5 and 6, authorities disclosed.

The Batangas Provincial Public Information Office (PIO) disclosed on social media on Saturday (Feb. 6) that the total number of Covid-19  cases in the province jumped to 12,509 from the 12,454 tally on Feb. 4.

The current death toll in Batangas also rose to 388 with the death of another validated virus carrier from Tanauan City on Feb. 5. No details on the latest Covid-19 fatality were given.

The province of Batangas, which remains under general community quarantine until Feb. 28, has recorded a total of 11,784 recoveries since the pandemic was declared in March last year.

The province has 337 remaining active virus carriers, topped by San Jose town with 52; followed by Lipa City, 42, and Batangas City, the provincial capital, with 41.

The report showed that 195 of the active cases are asymptomatic, 138 were mild, two were severe, and two were critical.

At least 76 of the active cases were confined in different hospitals, 205 in non-health facilities or community isolation centers, while 87 were on home quarantine as of Feb. 6, the report said.

The province has also listed 889 active suspected virus carriers and 15 probable cases.#
