Work suspended at Bohol prov’l capitol for disinfection vs COVID-19

TAGBILARAN CITY –– Work at the Bohol provincial capitol was suspended on Friday, Jan. 22, to pave the way for thorough disinfection after the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infected some of its employees.

Provincial Administrator Kathyrin Pioquinto, in a memorandum, said the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) would disinfect all offices in the capitol so that regular operations at the building could resume on Monday, Jan. 25.

Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, spokesperson of the Bohol Inter-Agency Task Force, did not specify how many employees were infected.

A source, however, told the Inquirer that at least seven employees tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the villages of Poblacion, Fatima, and Tapon in Ubay town were placed on temporary lockdown on Friday after the municipality recorded six new cases of COVID-19.

In an advisory, the lockdown would continue until the Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force (MIATF) finishes the contact tracing.

The public market will remain open to the public.
