Palace denies using pork barrel in impeachment

MANILA, Philippines—Malacañang denied Wednesday that the Aquino administration had offered additional P20-million worth of pork barrel to House members to ensure the impeachment of Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez.

“It’s absolutely not true,” deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte told reporters.

“Well, these kinds of things normally defy the bounds of logic. We know the budgetary constraints of the government. Again, we don’t know where this information came from but whoever said that obviously did not do the math,” she added.
