PH COVID-19 count now over 502,000 with 2,163 new infections
MANILA, Philippines — The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country is now over 502,000 after the Department of Health (DOH) logged additional 2,163 new infections on Monday.
Of the 502,736 total cases, 26,839 are considered active, according to the DOH’s daily case bulletin.
The majority or 85.8% of the active cases have mild symptoms, 6.1% are asymptomatic, 2.8% are having severe symptoms, while 4.9% are in critical condition.
The DOH only recorded two new recoveries, bringing the total to 465,988, while the death toll rose to 9,909 after 14 new fatalities.
Davao City registered the most number of new coronavirus infections with 134 cases, followed by Cagayan (100), Quezon City (99), Leyte (93), and Cavite (75).
DOH said it removed four duplicates from the total case count, of which two are recovered cases.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, three cases previously tagged as recoveries are reclassified as deaths.
Four labs were not able to submit their data on Jan. 17.
