8 firefighters in Tuguegarao City infected with COVID-19
TUGUEGARAO CITY –– Eight personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in this city have been infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), authorities said on Monday.
Chief Inspector Pedro Espinosa, city fire marshal, and acting BFP-provincial director, said they have isolated the firefighters in the quarantine facility of the People’s General Hospital here.
Espinosa said they traced the infection to one of the firefighters, but how he contracted the virus was not immediately known.
Relatives of the infected BFP personnel were subjected to swab tests but tested negative for COVID-19.
The BFP has formed an emergency response operation team to augment its workforce.
