Olongapo detainee escapes from police escorts

OLONGAPO CITY –– A drug and robbery suspect on Wednesday escaped from his escorts when the police car carrying them stopped at a red traffic light inside the Subic Bay Freeport.

In a radio interview, Lt. Col. Preston Bagangan, deputy director for administration of the Olongapo City Police Office, said the unnamed inmate was being transported back to the jail after investigators tried to recover some items he sold in nearby Bataan province.

Bagangan said the suspect kicked his police escorts and managed to remove his handcuffs before fleeing on foot.

An investigation on the possible lapses of the police escorts was underway.
