Paniqui slays an open-and-shut case, DOJ says

MANILA, Philippines — The double murder case against Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca, who was caught on video gunning down his unarmed mother-and-son neighbors on Dec. 20, will be an open-and-shut one, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said the complaint for the murder of Sonia Gregorio, 55, and her son Frank Anthony, 25, was filed in court two weeks ago and prosecutors were just waiting for the arraignment of the case.

Nuezca, who was assigned to the Parañaque police crime laboratory at the time, is currently detained at Paniqui Municipal Jail while awaiting trial.

Nuezca was recorded on video shooting his two neighbors during a quarrel in full view of several people, including his young daughter.
