4.6-magnitude aftershock rocks Sarangani; Intensity II in GenSan
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.6 aftershock jolted areas near Sarangani in Davao Occidental on Wednesday night.
According to a bulletin from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the tremor came after the magnitude 6.2 earthquake that shook a huge part of Mindanao early Wednesday morning.
The aftershock’s epicenter was located off Mindanao’s shores, 35 kilometers southwest of Sarangani, at a depth of just 29 kilometers. Intensity II was felt in Kiamba town of Sarangani and in General Santos City.
Intensity I, on the other hand, was experienced in Alabel town.

No further aftershocks or damage are expected from Wednesday night’s temblor, according to Phivolcs, which also did not raise any tsunami warning despite the offshore earthquake.
