BOC, PHLPost set to open customer care center at CMEC

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) and Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) will open this December a customer care center for the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) to cater to all transacting clients and attend to their inquiries and concerns.

According to BOC, the center will be equipped with information desks, a joint directory, and informative monitors, among others.

BOC said the Sub-Port CMEC continues to initiate measures to hasten parcel importations as the volume of parcel importation increases due to the approaching holiday season.

The bureau also noted that a coordination meeting was held between the CMEC and PHLPost to address existing issues in parcel importations being experienced from receiving the parcels to the claiming procedures.

According to the bureau, a customer care unit is now operational to immediately attend to concerns of postal item claimants while the new customer care center has not yet been inaugurated.

The implementation of online payment of taxes in the CMEC for parcel importation is also being studied to provide more payment options for clients and improve facilitation of trade and collection of revenue.
