1,339 new COVID-19 cases bring total count past 450,000 mark

MANILA, Philippines — The country has breached the 450,000 mark for total coronavirus disease infections after the Department of Health (DOH) reported an additional 1,339 COVID-19 cases on Monday.

DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin showed that this increase brought the number of active COVID-19 cases to 23,253; while recoveries are now at 418,723 after 41 patients successfully fended off the disease.

However, 24 new deaths push the death toll to 8,757.

According to DOH data, most of the active cases or 85.1 percent are still having  experience mild symptoms, 5.7 percent are asymptomatic, while 3.0 percent exhibited severe symptoms.

Another 5.9 percent of the sick patients are currently in critical condition.

For the second straight day, majority of the new cases came from Quezon City with 147.  It was followed by Davao City (124), Rizal province (65), Laguna (50), and City of Manila (49).

Of the positive cases noted on Thursday, 856 positive cases came from the 21,088 tests conducted on Sunday.
