Police nab welder accused of raping ex-girlfriend

POLICE arrested a welder who was accused of raping his former girlfriend two years ago in barangay Sto. Niño, Toledo City, western Cebu.

Jeffrey Abarido, 24, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon while he was on duty at Tsunishi, a shipbuilding company in barangay Buanoy, Balamban town.

Bogo City police, with an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Ruben Altubar in Toledo, made the arrest.

No bail was recommended for the man’s temporary liberty.

Abarido was turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas after the arrest.

The alleged rape took place while the two were drinking in barangay Sto. Niño where Abarido lives, said police.

The man denied the allegations against him, saying that it was the woman who seduced him.

Abarido said that he broke up with the woman after learning that she was married. CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
