Customs intercepts 75 poker chip sets, other gambling items

MANILA, Philippines — Thirty-eight parcels containing 75 poker chip sets and other gambling paraphernalia have been intercepted for not having the required permit from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported Tuesday.

The BOC-Ninoy Aquino International Airport intercepted the items in the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) of the Philippine Postal Corporation.

The bureau said the items, which were intercepted in violation of Republic Act 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), shall be turned over to the Auction and Cargo Disposal Division for safekeeping pending seizure and forfeiture proceedings.

Following the Decision of Forfeiture, the gambling paraphernalia shall be turned over to PAGCOR for proper disposition. [ac]
