Continuous raining cause floods in 4 Cebu towns
CEBU CITY –– Non-stop rain since Tuesday night has caused flooding in at least four municipalities of Cebu province.
Photos and videos circulating on social media showed people evacuating and asking for help as the water rose in the towns of Balamban, Asturias, and Tuburan on the west coast of Cebu island as well as in Danao City, some 40 kilometers north of Cebu City.
Tuburan Vice Mayor Aljun Diamante told reporters that rescue teams had been sent to monitor and assist affected families.
In Danao City, the public information office said they have dispatched rescue personnel to upland Barangay Tugonon this morning after families asked for help due to overflowing rivers.
In low-lying Barangay Suba, Danao City, rescue teams were also sent because the river near the coastline has overflowed.
Balamban Mayor Alex Binghay said one of their rivers also overflowed due to the continuous rain.
