Armed drug pusher arrested in Lucena sting
LUCENA CITY –– An alleged armed and notorious drug pusher was arrested here Tuesday morning, police said.
Antonio Vela, 52, was carrying an undocumented caliber .22 magnum revolver after he was caught selling shabu (crystal meth) to a police agent in Barangay Ilayang Dupay at 9:20 a.m., Lieutenant Colonel Romulo Albacea, Lucena police chief, said in a report.
Authorities seized the handgun loaded with five bullets and 14 sachets of meth from the suspect, who was on the police list of street level drug pushers in the city.
The suspect is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and illegal possession of a firearm.
The police said big-time drug suppliers were providing guns to some of their pushers for protection, aside from giving them free shabu for personal use as incentives.
