Cloud bands spotted east of PH but fair weather seen to persist

MANILA, Philippines — Several cloud clusters east of Mindanao are being monitored by state meteorologists although they assured the public that the fair weather experienced in the past few days would persist.

Weather reports from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Thursday showed that the cloud clusters outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) have a low chance of becoming a tropical cyclone as of now.

Aside from that, Pagasa only saw thin clouds and the effects of the northeast monsoon or amihan, which brings cold winds over the extreme Northern Luzon area.

This means warm and humid weather will still be experienced over the weekend, marking a long break from successive cyclones from October to early November.

Warm and humid weather may be experienced on Friday except for isolated thunderstorms by afternoon and night, especially over the Northern Luzon area.  Temperatures over Metro Manila and Laoag range between 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, while it would be 26 to 32 degrees in Legazpi and Puerto Princesa.

This would also be felt down south in Visayas and Mindanao, as temperatures in Tacloban and Cebu play around 25 to 32 degrees Celsius, 24 to 33 degrees in Zamboanga, and 25 to 33 degrees in Davao.

No gale warning is raised, which means fisherfolk and sea transfer operators using small boats can venture out as sea conditions would not be rough. [ac]
