Swollen Camarines Sur river floods 2 villages
LEGAZPI CITY –– Around 70 houses were submerged in floodwater in Presentacion town in Camarines Sur due to the heavy rains brought by Typhoon “Ulysses” on Wednesday.
Regina Bea, head of the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office, said the floodwaters in Pili River reached the critical level past noon, affecting Zone 3 of Barangay Pili and Zones 1 and 6 of Barangay Sta. Maria.
Bea said residents were evacuated on Tuesday in government shelters and other private houses that were still safe.
She said most of the evacuation centers and schools in 18 villages were damaged by Supertyphoon “Rolly” that hit Bicol region last Nov. 1.
