LRT, MRT, PNR suspend operations due to Super Typhoon Rolly

MANILA, Philippines — Railway services in Metro Manila, which is under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) Signal No. 4 due to Super Typhoon Rolly, have been suspended on Sunday.

In a statement, the Department ofTransportation (DOTr) announced that Light Rail Transit-1 (LRT-1), Light Rail Transit-2 (LRT-2) as well as Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) suspended operations “effective immediately” due to the possible impact of the super typhoon.

DOTr added that the Philippine National Railways likewise suspended its operations.

“Due to severe weather conditions brought about by typhoon Rolly, train service of PNR is temporarily SUSPENDED until further notice,” DOTr said.

“Passengers and employees who are already on trains and stations will be ferried to their destinations,” DOTr said.

Metro Manila is under Signal No. 4 based on the latest weather bulletin.

Areas under Signal No. 4 can expect winds of from 171 kilometers per hour (kph)  to 220 kph for at least 12 hours.
