Over 87,000 families evacuated in Bicol provinces due to Typhoon Rolly
LEGAZPI CITY, Albay, Philippines — A total of 87,908 families or 316,033 individuals were evacuated to safer areas before Typhoon “Rolly” (international name: Goni) makes landfall in Catanduanes.
Gremil Alexis Naz, information officer of Office of Civil Defense Bicol, said as of 12 a.m., Sunday, 36,357 families (116,111 individuals) were evacuated in Albay; 8,394 families (34,980 individuals) in Camarines Norte; 29,951 families (114,171 individuals) in Camarines Sur; 2,723 families (9,697 individuals) in Catanduanes; 16 families (71 individuals) in Masbate and 10,467 families (41,000 individuals) in Sorsogon.
Naz said the 77,353 families were housed in evacuation centers while 10,555 stayed in private houses and buildings.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development Office has augmented P10 million worth of food packs and P26 million worth of non-food items.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard Bicol said 132 passengers were stranded in various ports in Albay while 881 were in Sorsogon.
