Weak habagat may still bring rains over Palawan, western part of Visayas, Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon may have grown weaker but it still affects the western portion of the country like Palawan, and western provinces of Visayas and Mindanao, state meteorologists said on Tuesday afternoon
Weather forecasts from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed that aside from the southwest monsoon or habagat, thunderstorm activity was also observed over other parts of the country including Metro Manila.
Pagasa however clarified that the rains experienced over the afternoon and night were just because of these two weather systems, as the tropical cyclones outside the Philippine area of responsibility continued to move away.
For Wednesday, generally fair weather is expected in parts of Luzon except for the western portion, which may still experience monsoon rains. But by afternoon and night, thunderstorm activity may increase and cause showers lasting one to two hours.
Temperatures in Metro Manila and Laoag would range from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius, while it may be slightly lower in Puerto Princesa and Tagaytay, with 25 to 31 degrees and 22 to 30 degrees, respectively.
In the Visayas and Mindanao, Cebu and Iloilo’s temperatures of 26 to 31 degrees Celsius would be slightly lower compared to Tacloban’s 26 to 32 degrees; while Davao and Zamboanga may see daytime temperatures peaking at 32 degrees
