No mass gatherings in Angeles City: Festivals suspended, cemeteries closed
ANGELES CITY—Two events that draw large crowds here every October, including an even bigger street party, have been suspended by Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Lazatin issued a memorandum to cease in the meantime the holding of the two religious feasts. One is for Our Lady of the Holy Rosary La Naval and Apung Mamacalulu and the other is Tigtigan Terakan king Dalan, a celebration of the city’s recovery from the 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo.
Lazatin also ordered the closure of all four cemeteries in the city from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2 also to stop the spread of SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Filipinos normally visit their dead loved ones during those days.
The city has a record of 336 COVID-19 cases so far.
