Isko Moreno says no one is ‘grooming’ him to run for VP
MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Wednesday dismissed reports that he is being recruited to run for the country’s vice presidency in the 2022 elections.
“Wala. I have to be honest. Wala naman. In fairness to those people aspiring to be the president of the country. Wala namang nag-a-abiso sa akin,” Moreno said over Kapihan sa Manila Bay when sought for confirmation about him being a potential candidate for the vice-presidential race in 2022.
(I am receiving no invitation. I have to be honest. In fairness to those people aspiring to be the president of the country, not one of them has approached me.)
Moreno added that he is still focusing to address the coronavirus disease pandemic that already infected more than 9,000 residents in Manila.
“There is no point to survey about politics today. One, two years pa ang election. Two, there is pandemic, kaya more than anything else, more than the sand, whatever they are doing there, there (are) people dying here (Manila),” the mayor said.
Moreno earlier cited that there are 880 active cases out of the 9,258 total COVID-19 cases in the capital city. Of the 9,058, the city recorded 351 deaths and 7,227 recoveries.
