SHS-AdC beats CEC, takes top seed
THE DEFENDING champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles locked up the top seed in bracket B of the Seaoil National Basketball Training Center Elite League after they downed their rivals Cebu Eastern College Dragons, 78-59, last Sunday at the City Sports Club Cebu basketball court.
The Eagles had a remarkable turnaround in the second half after trailing by as many as 16 in the second period. They were down, 26-38, at halftime but found their stroke in the second half behind the stellar play of big man Julius Cadavis, Aaron Sing and Patrick Go. The Eagles finished the round with a 4-0 (win-loss) mark.
The trio combined for 34 points with Cadavis leading the way with 13. Sing had 11 while Go, a former Jr. NBA national team member, added 10. CEC got 26 from lefty big man Lyle Sumayang while Marvin Bauya chipped in with 16. However, the Dragons got little from the rest of the squad as they ended up with a 3-1 record.
In the day’s other game, the University of San Carlos-South Baby Warriors beat the Don Bosco Greywolves, 67-59. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
