Cayetano named ‘legislative caretaker’ of Camarines Sur’s 1st district
MANILA, Philippines — Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano was named Wednesday as the “legislative caretaker” of the first district of Camarines Sur following the death of Rep. Marissa Andaya.
During Wednesday’s session, Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Rep. Winter Palma II moved that Cayetano be designated as the legislative caretaker of Andaya’s previous jurisdiction.
Andaya died of cancer in July.
“In the interest of the people of the first district of Camarines Sur, I move that we designated the Speaker, Alan Peter Cayetano, as the legislative caretaker of the first district of Camarines Sur,” Palma said.
The motion was approved.
Andaya’s husband, former Rep. Rolando Andaya Jr., earlier said that despite the ailment, his wife continued to do the rounds of the first district of Camarines Sur to check on her constituents amid the coronavirus pandemic.
