Nurse with COVID-19 dies in a Bacolod hospital

BACOLOD CITY –– A 51-year-old male nurse who tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) died in a hospital here on Tuesday night.

Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said the nurse went to the Cadiz District Hospital on Tuesday morning after he had trouble breathing.

He was subsequently transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital since he needed to be intubated.

On Tuesday night, he died.

“He did not even last the night. It was so swift,” Diaz said.

On Wednesday morning, swab test results showed that the nurse was infected with the virus.

“COVID-19 is a traitor virus. One is just taken swiftly without any warning,” Diaz said.

The nurse was the second provincial government employee who died of COVID-19.
