Albay village chief nabbed for allegedly harboring crime group member
LEGAZPI CITY –– A village chief who was arrested by police on Monday in Libon town in Albay province is facing charges for obstruction of justice for allegedly welcoming members of a notorious crime gang into his home, a report said Tuesday.
Arrested was Arturo Madronero, 55, the incumbent chief of Barangay Molosbolos, Police Captain Dexter Panganiban, Albay police spokesperson, said.
Police officers served the warrant of arrest against Madronero while the suspect was at Centro Poblacion, Barangay 7 around 10:30 a.m.
The suspect is facing obstruction of justice complaint after he allegedly allowed members of the Concepcion Criminal Group to stay in his residence after an attack against policemen who were about to serve a warrant of arrest to several of their members seeking refuge in Barangay Molosbolos last June.
The clash resulted in the death of a member of the notorious crime group and injuring a police special weapons and tactics (SWAT) member.
