DepEd records 823 COVID-19 cases among personnel, learners
MANILA, Philippines (Updated) — The Department of Education has recorded a total of 823 confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 among its personnel and learners.
Data from DepEd as of August 23 and released on Monday showed that of the total cases, 310 are active, 490 are recoveries, and 23 are deaths.
This figure includes the 19 cases of infection in the department’s central office, which is composed of five active cases, 12 recoveries, and one death.
Below is the breakdown of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in DepEd regional offices:

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao – 2
Earlier in the day, an aide memoire document dated August 19 and shared by Education Undersecretary Alain Pascua showed that DepEd has recorded a total of 748 COVID-19 cases among its personnel and learners. The data was as of August 18.
