CITY OF SAN FERNANDO –– At least 26 rookie policemen, who have recovered from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), donated their blood plasma early this month for critically ill patients who contracted the virus.

The Philippine National Police, the non-government organization Pamisaupan Kapampangan, Philippine Red Cross, Philippine Society of Gastroenterology, Clark Development Corporation, and Bases Conversion and Development Authority announced this in a joint statement on Sunday.

The 26 donors belong to the batch of 200 on-the-job trainees of the police’s regional special training unit in Magalang town in Pampanga, according to its head Police Col. Frederick Obar.

They were dispatched to the Clark Freeport and were later assigned to man checkpoints in Angeles and Mabalacat cities. The death of a vendor in Angeles City’s Pampanga Market in May prompted the swab tests in the batch.

PRC, Philippine General Hospital, and PSG received the plasma donation. A portion was given to the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital for research.
