Face shields mandatory inside Camp Crame starting Aug. 17—PNP

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police has mandated visitors, police personnel and civilian employees to wear face shields when entering the nation police force’s headquarters at Camp Crame, Quezon City starting Aug. 17, Monday.

Police Lt. Gen. Camilo Cascolan, PNP Deputy Chief for Administration, said they required face shields on top of face masks to suppress further spread of COVID-19.

“We appeal to all to observe health protocols for the sake of everyone’s safety against the contagion,” Cascolan said in a statement on Saturday.

In the same statement, PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said the PNP Headquarters Support Service implemented a directive that curfew operations from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. is still in effect, excluding police personnel who are still on duty inside the headquarters.

The Department of Labor and Employment also required face shields for employees starting this Saturday to ramp up health protocols during the fight against further transmission of the coronavirus disease.

As of Friday, PNP logged a total of 2,798 COVID-19 cases including 13 deaths and 1,841 recoveries.
