Manila’s most wanted slain in Bulacan shootout
SAN RAFAEL, Bulacan –– Manila’s most wanted person was killed during a reported shootout with policemen in a remote area in this town on Wednesday night, authorities said.
Police said Leopoldo Dumdumaya Jr., 35, alias “Demonyo,” engaged policemen in a gunfight while a warrant of arrest was being served against him inside his rented house in Sitio Bacood, Barangay Tambubong here at 8:45 p.m.
Dumdumaya was also known as the number one “hitman” of the Balong drug syndicate, investigators said.
Joint police forces from Bulacan and Manila Police District (MPD) were about to arrest Dumdumaya for two counts of murder charges when the suspect started firing shots at the lawmen, who shot back. The suspect died on the spot.
Dumdumaya’s group was also included in the list of illegal drug syndicates operating in Manila that were responsible for the series of killings in Manila, including a barangay councilor and two MPD police officers.
The suspect’s partner Darlene Manapsal, 25, and her brother Darren Manapsal, 24, were also arrested by the police for alleged possession of “shabu” (crystal meth).
