COVID-19 testing center opens in Tuguegarao City
TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) has formally opened its molecular laboratory or COVID-19 testing center here on Monday.
Dr. Glenn Mathew Baggao, CVMC hospital chief, said the center would operate 24 hours and could test 300 to 400 specimens every day.
“This will expedite the testing of specimens and we are thankful for all those who helped us in realizing this laboratory project,” he said.
The hospital has also acquired its Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) machine, another machine from the Department of Health Central Office and an additional GeneXpert machine.
The laboratory’s manpower includes six medical technologists from the center, who took a six-day training at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.
Twenty-five other medical technologists were also recruited and will be trained at the CVMC.
