Robredo: Listen to points raised by health workers on virus crisis
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo on Saturday expressed her support to the points raised by health workers towards a recalibration of efforts in the country against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.
“The points raised by our doctors have also been part of repeated calls for action, not only from our office but from experts and even affected sectors. We need to listen so that we can start rising from this crisis. The only way to get through this is to stand together,” Robredo wrote in a tweet.

Robredo’s statement came after medical groups earlier requested the government to return Metro Manila’s status to the stricter enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) as COVID-19 cases in the country have soared to more than 90,000.
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said they already shunned the demand, saying lockdowns alone will not solve the health crisis.
Robredo, however, stressed the health workers’ “distress call” shows the dangers of the COVID-19 situation in their lives.
“Our doctors are sending a distress call. They are asking (the government) for a timeout to recalibrate, restrategize, redirect our policies because our strategy and measures are not working. They are afraid they might be pushed into a situation where they must decide who lives and who dies,” the Vice President said.
