Ex-soldier nabbed for illegal drugs, grenade in Naga City
LEGAZPI CITY — A former member of the Philippine Army was arrested during a search operation in Naga City in Camarines Sur province on Friday night, police said Saturday.
Police Master Sergeant Tobias Bongon, Naga City police spokesperson, said in a report that Miguel Lucena, 43, a resident of San Fernando town, was arrested inside the house of Joemar Caponga in Barangay (village) Mabolo of this city at around 10:45 p.m.
During the operation, Caponga, who was the subject of the operation, was able to escape, Bongon said.
Bongon said Lucena was “absent without official leave” from the military in 2010. He did not specify Lucena’s last assignment.
Recovered during the operation were four sachets or 15 grams of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P120,000.
Also seized from Lucena were a hand grenade and live ammunition for a caliber .38 gun.
