Muntinlupa gets tougher on face mask violators

/ 04:03 AM July 29, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — Minors in Muntinlupa caught without a face mask may lose the scholarship granted by the city government after the city council passed an ordinance imposing stricter penalties on violators.

According to City Ordinance No. 2020-109, signed by Mayor Jaime Fresnedi on Monday, adult violators would be fined from P300 to P1,000.

Minors who are scholars of the city government, on the other hand, would be given a stern warning, followed by the revocation of their scholarships on subsequent violations.

Those who are not scholars would be fined between P300 and P500. The new ordinance amended the one passed in April, which punished violators by requiring them to render three hours of community service or attend a seminar, on top of being restricted to their houses, except during emergencies.
