PUERTO PRINCESA CITY –– Barangay Santa Monica in this city is now an emerging hotspot of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the province with a total of six confirmed cases, the largest number so far in just one community in Palawan.

This, after another COVID-19 positive patient, was recorded in the village on Friday, marking the 6th confirmed case in this community.

Dr. Dean Palanca, city incident commander, in a briefing aired live on Facebook page Friday, said the patient is a 27-year-old female resident of Sta. Monica, who was not a close contact of any previously reported confirmed cases in the province.

“This is in addition to the community transmission cases reported yesterday, this is separate. [The patient] has a different surname, different family, so this is a separate community transmission in the same barangay,” Palanca said.
