1 COVID-19 patient in Quezon dies; total fatalities: 11

LUCENA CITY –– The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) related deaths in Quezon province rose to 11 on Friday after another confirmed patient died.

In an 8 a.m. bulletin, the Quezon Public Information Office (QPIO), reported the death of a confirmed SARS-CoV2 virus carrier from the island town of Alabat. The QPIO gave no added details on the fatality.

Alabat town, located on Alabat island off the Pacific Ocean, has only two recorded COVID-19 patients.

The first patient, a 52-year-old male, is “symptomatic” and has “extensive pulmonary tuberculosis.” The case was recorded on June 20.

The second, a 68-year-old male, had close contact with the first case. The second patient is “symptomatic and weak with cough, severe anemia, and extensive pulmonary tuberculosis.”

Quezon, now still under general community quarantine status, has recorded a total of 151 COVID-19 cases but at least 120 have recovered, and 11 others died.

The province has only 20 remaining active virus carriers as of Friday.

Of 41 municipalities in the province, 17 remain COVID-19-free.
