MANILA, Philippines — Residents of Mindanao and Visayas provinces, plus Bicol Region and Mimaropa should expect cloudy skies and rains due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), state meteorologists said on Thursday.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the prevailing ITCZ will bring rains and slightly lower temperatures in a wide area on Friday, as clouds move from the east to the western side of the country.

Temperatures in Tacloban and Palawan may range from 25 to 31 degrees Celsius, 25 to 32 degrees in Cebu, 26 to 33 in Davao City, and 24 to 32 in Cagayan de Oro.

Meanwhile, areas in Luzon including Metro Manila would still see cloudy skies and hot and humid weather in the morning, and occasional rain showers due to localized thunderstorms by afternoon and night.

Metro Manila and Olongapo are likely to see temperatures of 26 to 34 degrees Celsius, 25 to 33 degrees in Lipa, and 26 to 36 degrees in Tuguegarao.

Hot weather in the capital region is seen to persist until Saturday, with sporadic rains.  However, clouds would persist by Sunday and Monday, with a high chance of rains.

Despite the cloudy weather and the rains, no weather disturbances like low pressure areas or storms are seen to enter the Philippine area of responsibility in the coming days.

Fisherfolk with small boats can set sail as no gale warning has been raised as well, although sea condition on the country’s western seaboards will be moderate.  The rest of the country would see a light to moderate condition, except during thunderstorms.
