DUMAGUETE CITY—A second village official was killed in Negros Oriental a week after a village chief had been murdered with police still uncertain about the suspects nor the motive for the deadly attacks.

The latest victim was shot dead on Wednesday (June 24) just a week after a village chief in this city was murdered while on duty.

Feliciano Trosa, 56, and member of the council of Nagbinlod village in Santa Catalina town, was riding his motorcycle after buying pork when a lone gunman emerged from an abandoned house and shot Trosa.

As of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, police have yet to identify the identity of the perpetrator and the motive for the killing.

Trosa’s murder came a week after Harrison Gonzales, village chief of Tinago, Dumaguete City, was shot dead while enforcing quarantine measures on the night of June 16.

It is also the second gun attack recorded in Negros Oriental this week.

On Tuesday (June 23), gunmen shot and killed Sherwin Gabo, a rescue volunteer from Sta. Catalina’s neighboring town, Siaton.

Siaton police said Gabo was driving his motorcycle when he was tailed and attacked by the gunmen who were also on a motorcycle. He was rushed to the town hospital but was declared dead on arrival there.
